Gamevertising network launched
In the US, AtomShockwave has launched the Shockwave.com Immersive Network, a platform that will place multiple advertisers within the company’s popular games. As AdAge reports, the AtomShockwave has already signed Sprint and Sony Pictures to sponsor the first available title “Switch Wakeboarding”. The game site attracts over 20 million unique visitors per month, so the gamevertising (another neologism, bleah!) opportunity is really big, also because the audience is mostly young and therefore particularly difficult to reach through traditional media.
According to the Yankee Group in-game advertising a $500 million business, and could top $1 billion by 2010 (but cable TV generates 22 billions…).
