Cannes has begun for this year. So what are your choices for the gold Cyber’s?
My guess is that this year a Cyber choice will be the Best of Show. Given the surge within our industry towards interactive and digital the judges (and the whole event itself) can’t be seen as “old school”. Well it’s just my opinion…

i don’t know if Best Of Show, but at least in interactive most probably RGA’s “Nike +”
I really hope so too, but is there really anything this year that could make “best in show”, do you think?
Maybe awards in 2008 will be given to those who try to change the online ad model to an opt-in approach. Take a look at http://www.prowebsurfer.com and what they are doing - replacing ads with images, including (bizarrely for some users) replacing ads they don’t want with ads they do (especially vintage ads). Its the next step in user-generated content. Take a look and watch the awards next year.
3D games online (at least interactive) will dominate and it seems like so many digital videos (which are passive) will prevail as a format - nothing that suggest and understanding of web and “web2.0″ seems to be in today’s short listings! Oh well maybe next year - but can you imagine a blog winning an award at Cannes that cost only €0 to set it up and - some 6 figure for the creative idea!
