Vodafone’s Augmented Reality Buffer Busters
The Buffer Busters are the new Ghost Busters according to Vodafone. In Germany the telcom giant has launched an augmented reality mobile application that transforms your city in a videogame arena. Starting from the brief “Vodafone is the fastest mobile network in Germany” North Kingdom created a digital story revolving around so-called Buffer Monsters that represents everything slow in your everyday surroundings.
The goal in the game is to capture these monsters by using a smart phone and dumping them in Vodafone Stores or online. The best Buffer Busters will win a lifetime plan from Vodafone.
As all North Kingdom’s projects, it looks super cool. But I’m not sure whether it’s also a super geeky idea, and therefore not “inclusive” enough to prove successful with the super broad audience Vodafone wants to connect with. What do you think?
BTW, also the TVC supporting the initiative is pretty nice…
