IKEA Introduces Nursery for Men
Men with short retail attention span and shopping-averse men in Australia have now a solution to escape the pains of weekend shopping at Ikea. And it’s Ikea itself proposing a solution: it’s called Manland and it’s a day-care for husbands and boyfriends who want to take a break from the shopping. The space works exactly like the play-space for kids, wiht a dedicated area in the store offering free hot dogs, Xbox consoles, pinball machines and nonstop sports action on TV.
And the funny part is that there’s even a buzzer to remind girls to stop buy to pick-up their men!
Ikea did a 4-days trial with this idea early this month, but accordingly to the media coverage and the buzz generated around the world, I bet they will seriously think about extending the service to other stores and for longer hours. Let’s just see what will happen when men will start complaining for the highest charges on the family’s credit card!
I guess we can now expect a new range of jokes coming up to describe the men vs women shopping experience at Ikea. Good, I was getting tired of the old ones
