Tweet and give to a bloody charity

Here’s something to make your Friday: have you ever thrown a coin into a swear jar at work, home or (heaven forbid) at your child’s kindergarten? This well-established tradition has had no equivalent online, yet at the same time the interwebs is full of profanity. This oxymoron triggered three creatives to come up with a genius solution. Enter the Charity Swearbox. At well fucking last, I must say.

Charity Swearbox is a donation-based site that provides Twitter users with a way to right their verbal wrongs. Log on to CharitySwearbox.com where the app detects all of your recently tweeted swear words, and (multiplied with 1 dollar let’s say) suggests a reasonable donation. Or, if you’ve been good and not sworn at all, you can let rip with a swear-filled tweet right there in the app. And then make up by simply selecting from a list of charities and donate via Paypal.

Jay, James and Rameet all work at respectable outfits on different continents (check out their profiles here). They are bound partly by being ex-colleagues, partly by their love for swearing online. With help from Telegramme and Fueled they developed Charity Swearbox in their own time, so hats off to their dedication and commitment.
