A focus on the fresh, funny and inspiring advertising @NewYorkFestival
I had a lot of fun putting this list together. I thought it would be good to look at some of the fresh, funny and inspiring TV ads & campaigns that came out of the festival. I have total respect for the creative teams that managed to push this work through and get clients to buy the idea.
What better place to start than a beer ad. Although this one has quite a twist and definitely deserves credit for “best use of music” for using Lionel Richie’s “Hello”.
I love the quirky humour in these (Australian) ads for Nimble : “Smart little loans : because unexpected happens”.
“Blazed” New Zealand Transport Authority Drug Driving. Great direction, script and the acting from these kids is off the charts.
Edgar & Kelly. Weirder than weird. Stick through it until the end. Interesting way to promote a theatre.
Landrover Roam Free. Love to see a car ad that doesn’t have a car in it.
“Jacket” 66° North. Surreal, but I just love this ad. I’d buy a jacket like that if it made me feel that warm.
Made from Cool. I love all 5 ads but this is probably my favourite.
“Signor Valmano” and his kooky grandma side-kick. I wish all TVCs for websites were this good.
“Supergeil”. It seems that a kind of senior-citizen-inspired “most interesting man in the world” character seems to be trending. Low-cost german supermarket cuts through with supergeil. The film has over 10 million views which is impressive for the category.
