Is the advert chopping the cats head off in the sunroof for real?! how can they expect to sell cars to a population of animal lovers? I was emailed it and usually find those sort of ads amusing but that was over the line. sick.

I thought the ad was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Obviously they got what they wanted out of it. You're interested. That's all they needed from you. All of your sicko friends are going to look at this and laugh their rear ends off and maybe even think about buying the car. It was an original idea and if you don't like it, just don't watch it. For those that haven't seen it...
http://rizzn.com/images/kA2.mpeg
For those wondering "What are they thinking?!" this is a simple case of targeted marketing. This car is a sportier model of the Ka designed for a younger, more rebelious croud. They are not trying to sell this car to everone with this ad, just that corner of the market for which it was developed.
Also, for those animal lovers out there, you will be glad to know, if you watch the video carefully enough, you can see that the cats head was not really removed. They just managed to hide the head for most of the cat's sliding off the vehicle, and placed a computer animated bloody wound over the head when it appears as the cat flips off the mirror.
Regardless, it's a very funny ad. Just try to refrain from cutting your own cat's head off with your car's sunroof as it is just plain mean.

Lighten up folks. It was absurd humor. The car did it. Not some mean, cat hating person, but the CAR. That's what makes it funny. Well, that and the way his little feet were kicking! =)
No, the cat really didn't have it's head cut off. It was a CGI sequence. No ad company is dumb enough to actually kill a cat and have to with stand the PETA backlash!
Ford did not release the ad. Ford did not make the ad. Their UK ad firm did. Ford rejected the ad. No one claims to know how the ad ended up on the net.

Just yesterday in Ireland a 3 year old toddler got his head trapped in an automatic window and died - is that funny too?
As soon as I saw this ad I contacted PETA and it pretty much immediately vanished from the web - NICE ONE PETA.

This is a joke ad albeit in poor taste- to the poster that commented on the child in Ireland, I'll bet you the Sportka's windows and sunroof both have an anti-trap mechanism that winds them back to prevent such an occurance- the closing sunroof was only used for the ad bozo!

Next time you'll cut the head of a person in an ad (virtually, of course) and say you should not take offence, as it is targeted for the "rebellious crowd", and not you, why do you look at it?
Thank you, but not all means should be employed to attain publicity.
Also, when watching an ad, the viewer does not know the punch line beforehand - he has no protection.
The people behind the ad lack ethics, wisdom and common sense.
It is unfortunate, that this ad had been created and distributed, as although it may soar sales for the company, and raise controversy around the creative company, but definitely damages culture.

To Dave (bozo)!? I KNOW the cat was not real. That is not the point. The point is this ad promotes and makes fun of animal cruelty, simple as that. Not everyone shares your opinion or your sense of humour. As for your bet, I have a Honda which has electric windows and sunroof, none of which have an 'anti-trap' mechanism. In fact I know no one with a car that does. Maybe the Sportka will be different, maybe not - Whatever.

Sick fu*ks don't need an excuse to do twisted things, they just do them. I bet if you actually look into it (rather then talking out your but) you'll find that 99.999% of the sick twisted crimes are done by people who have psychological problems. These kids love their autos and hate birds and cats that frequently dirty clean cars. Ford just increased market share with this generation. You humorless philistines complaining about the commercial are nothing but sheep. You need to be led around by the hand; trained how to think; told what to say, because you are completely unable to do it for yourselves.
Nevermind the fact that this commercial isn't even REAL. If this commercial incites the beheadings of felines, it will be YOUR fault, not Ford's. It will be because you retards have spawned an entire generation raised by public schools and television - with no moral compass or common sense.
You PETA loving pricks vehemently supported fining a man $10,000 for putting down a disgusting, disease-ridden rat that was ruining the garden he had worked hard to grow. You're the same bastards who empowered the EPA to confiscate the land of a farmer in Oregon because some stupid owl perched on the branches of HIS tree. Tree huggers and animal rights activists should be systematically spayed and neutered so they can't reproduce.
You dreadlocked scumbags are no different than the last generation of Jane Fonda wannabes who spit on and applauded the deaths of soldiers defending your right of free speech - stinking dirdbags who never did anything for anyone, but smoke dope, eat shrooms, and spike trees.
Now you want to take rights away from people and give them to animals. And you wonder why you're hated so much. Come on people, it's just a commercial...besides, it was damn funny.

A certain lager brand for instance have an advert out at the moment which uses the tagline 'dont lose you head' and shows people walking around with no heads. 'Tunes' the cough sweet manufacturer is doing exactly the same and you see a head water-skiing.

For those who think this is only nothing but a CGI generated video, get a load of this:
Suppose there's a CGI generated video of a black man beating on a white man and slice his head off just because of his race, would that be alright?
Would a CGI generated video of a car hitting a victim at 90 miles an hour and have the driver laughing about it be alright to you?
Would a CGI generated video of handicapped person getting beaten by a baseball bat repeatedly, just for the sole purpose of not having any legs. Would that be alright for you?
The fact is, animal cruelty is being cruel to animals, regardless of wether it's a person or an object. CGI nowadays look real, and you have to admit that. And when the video 'looks' real enough, you can no longer use the fact that it's fake as a defense. This is a commercial, not a movie where it has warned the audience about its content being fake. There is still the idea of animal cruelty, and that's pretty darn real to some younger audience. Imagine your kid trying to saw the head of his cat the next time you laugh.
I'm not an uptight person who is against a little humor, but if Ford decided to put that on television at daytime, they're gonna get their asses sued to kingdom come.

Hate cats...but I thought this was in really bad taste and surprised anyone would propose that the attention outweighs the risk. I'm really weary of the "don't watch" attitudes out there - I won't, if someone will just be sure to mention beforehand that the following is rude, vulgar, or in this case, disgusting. Maybe it would only run during Springer - yeah that would work. If this had made it to TV - I hate to think of my daughter watching it. The posts that are scariest though...are the ones who are actually angry at those who aren't amused and the ones who seem inclined to think cats, real ones, deserve it somehow. As for the teacher who showed it to his class who found it hilarious - what's on the planner for tomorrow - some sexist "humor" or racist "jokes"? If teenagers laugh should someone manage to get a market share for that too?

I almost cried when I saw this. Fake or not, the idea of a cat slowly decapitated by a window makes me nauseated in my stomach. I think it is offensive because it is an everyday reality - there are people out there who enjoy torturing and maiming animals - a kid in my hometown gouged out the eyes of a puppy with a pencil last year! To take this sick reality and turn it into an ad to sell a lousy Ford is disgusting.
Let's make an ad about how the car is roomy enough to rape a girl in, or molest a child, or has a strong bumper from which to drag a member of an ethnic minority from. Sure, these are tragic everyday events - but comeon! It's just CGI!

This commercial may not *cause* such behavior, but it attempts to make it socially acceptable. So it is definitely part of the problem.

Fact - Ford approved the production of this sick ad, knowing full well of what would happen.
Fact - Ford thought it would increase car sales.
Fact - I was considering buying a Ford Focus after Consumers Reports highly rated it.
Fact - I'm now driving a fantastic Toyota Corolla. Toyota never made a sick ad like Ford did.
Fact - Ford just lost a $20,000 car sale and all future car purchases from me.
Fact - The SportKa ad failed to make me buy a Ford Product.
Fact - Ford screwed up.

I showed the ad to older people...and younger. Me being in the middle...I laughed my rear off. And, I too showed it to my HS class. EVERY student was rolling with laughter. My principal on the other hand, disliked the ad. Is it an age thing? I have cats...I love them...I havent been dumb enough to leave my windows down though as others seem to do. Sorry there is no sunroof on my mustang. Go Ford....cause I have been looking for more ad's ALL day.

No, it isn't funny. Yes, it is sick. And for anyone out there who thinks it is acceptable you too should be locked up.
Animal cruelty is nothing to joke about...it's unacceptable, unforgivable, and those who partake in it ALWAYS get bored and move to the next inevitable stage...humans - that means you, your mother, your child. If the ad were about a child getting its head chopped off I dare say anyone would think it funny or appropriate. Well, as far as I'm concerned, there is no difference - either actual act would be illegal and indefensible!
This type of ad -and the idiots who think it is funny or okay- are exactly what is wrong with today's society. It is that type of sick, twisted, "humor" that has caused the desensitization of society until anything short of 911 is no big deal. Well it IS a big deal and it's NOT funny and it's NOT okay!! And if you think it is...YOU should be locked up.
Oh yeah...Ford will never see a penny of my money!

I would just like to know how some of you are so sure that this ad is not real. You say it's CGI but how the hell do any of you know?? Do you work for the advertising company? To think immediatly that it was CGI because 'no one would really do that' and that only an intelligent person would 'get it' is really moronic, and you either have not been horrified by having seen true violence or you are mentally/emotionally numb by seeing so much on the stupid box we call T.V.. Ads like this continue to show the truely barbaric nature of people, that some of us are trying to overcome. You people who laughed at this ad are also probably just fine with killng 1000 Iraqi's as revenge for four Americans. Your a disgusting breed of human.

the only thing that could have made this any funnier was if the roof had cut off the head of a cat loving, stinky hippie. hhaaa!!!!

A reply to the comments several 'hinge-heads' out there:
"Just yesterday in Ireland a 3 year old toddler got his head trapped in an automatic window and died - is that funny too?"
Why would that be funny? It sounds as if that *really* happened ...
"As soon as I saw this ad I contacted PETA and it pretty much immediately vanished from the web - NICE ONE PETA."
Oh, so you and PETA were personally responsible for it disappearing from the website? Too bad you couldn't/didn't take care of the other 500 carrying it then. The only thing worse than a politically-correct activist is an incompetent one. Try again, I'm sure you have lots of e-mail bandwidth to waste.
" ... I'll bet you the Sportka's windows and sunroof both have an anti-trap mechanism ..."
No, but wait until we're fully assimilated into the Borg-like politically correct culture ... then you can be that every sunroof will come with an anti-trap mechanism to protect us from ourselves. By the way, can YOU protect all of us from the extra $150 the anti-trip mechanism will cost on each car? (anti-trip? you need to work on your mechanical engineering terminology anyway)
"Founder Henry Ford accepted a medal from Adolph Hitler and helped the Nazis ... blah, blah, freakin' blah"
Yeah, and the Volkswagen was designed at the behest of sick old Adolf himself. The last time I checked, HE was card-carrying Nazi number one. And the parent company of Mitsubishi produced the famous A6M 'Zero' series of fighter planes (and quite a few dive bombers and torpedo planes) which ACTUALLY DID rain death and destruction upon untold thousands of people in the Far East. How many of you non-Ford buyers are considering a boycott of Jettas and Galants too?
"... after seeing that pathetic commercial, I'll just bypass ALL Ford products and go with a 350Z."
Oh, I'm sure. Anyone with brains *knows* you're not telling the truth ... even a PETA person wouldn't be dumb enough to put a 350Z in the same comparison field with a rattly Ford Mustang. You're probably driving a 1991 Hyundai with a self-righteous smile on your face, you nimrod.
"One can imagine that the future will bring both legitimate and bastard advertising campaigns."
I asked a semi-literate homeless person on the street and he too agreed that this comment not only lacks relevance in this topic, but is patently asinine.
" ... they made it LOOK real - that's what counts."
Huh? Oh ... OF COURSE! It has to be relevant and made by a Hollywood activist to have real value for you, right? Activist he isn't, but using your comparison, I suppose that Steven Spielberg should be strung up for making 'Band of Brothers' "look real", right? After all, if it looks real, I might want to go out, put on a soldier's uniform from the last world war and kill people.
Folks, there are real issues in the world to worry about; a car ad just ain't one of them, trust me. Don Quixote would be proud of all the windmill-tilting going on here.
Oh, and for you folks that are wondering about the 'hinge-head' comment at the top, I think that most people that are taking this commercial too seriously have a hinge installed on the cranium from their recent lobotomy, so as to more easily facilitate replacement of the thinking parts of the brain when they are ready to rejoin the productive parts of the human race.

Oh yeah, I forgot that only hippies are adverse to killing anything for no good reason. The mentality of "people" like you is really disturbing. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword, and so will eventually this sad culture minds like yours perpetuate.

I read all of this post thread thing and my Ford Tempo does not an animal bring in any way. Before Chirstmas I checked all my oil and to see if there was any truth to if someone dumps 1qt of water in a Ford crank case it will destroy the engine. Ford says not but my mechanic agrees with me because of this cat video thing. Ford will pay for this dilenation of society and engines.

This commercial was so real that I had to immediately engage in animal cruelty. I went out and grabbed a cat from my neighborhood and stuck his head in my sun roof and closed it. I could not get the head to detach from the body no matter how many times I tried. Also, I tried to smash a bird on the hood of my car. I couldn't get it to work like in the commercial (my hood wouldn’t pop up that fast), so I took the bird and just threw it at the hood really hard. It works just like the commercial if you do it that way. Those commercials are great because I never would have thought of doing something like that on my own. Now I think I want to engage in animal cruelty on a regular basis!!! Before seeing those commercials I was so animal friendly it was almost sick, but now that I see how much fun it is on the other side, I’m glad I changed my ways. I was thinking I might try some of those tricks with a small child. Again it’s a good thing I saw those commercials because they taught me just how good it feels to abuse animals!!!!!

Hey Bucky - Welcome to the Dark Side of The Force.
The discussion has just begun Pat.
Robert - Ford engines don't use oil - try putting cat's blood in it - it'll purr like a kitten. Use Exxon gasoline if you want a tiger in your tank.
ROTF - LMAO !!!

At first I was shocked, but then I took comfort in knowing it wasn't real and now I think it's hilarious. Fortunately, I'm one of those 10% of the population that can control my emotions. Unfortunately, the other 90% has to ruin it for everyone else.

Well I really don't see the humor in this, maybe it's just me, I also know it is fake, and wasn't overly disturbed by it, however, I am an adult. As I was watching this my 4 year old nephew walking in, when he saw it he started crying, he did not know it was fake. As far as this making me want one of their vehicles, even if I thought that was funny I would steer clear, I don't have any children but I do have 12 nephews (and may have children of my own someday) and would never buy a vehicle that would be potentially dangerous to a child (or drunken friend). I'm not exactly sure who this is supposed to be targeting.
