Are you crazy? It's a Flash site (???), which loads for almost 30 seconds, where nothing happens...it sounds like an agency joke. I agree with Keane: i bet they were charged through the nose for this and I can't think of a single reason why they did it. Especially as its claim is patently untrue. How many sites are dormant?

Just noticed that 'Worldwide' is spelled wrong in their URL.
So, technically nothing doesn't happen. Mispelling happen,then they get fixed.

Their email address doesn't work, whether you spell it 'were' or 'where'. This is sloppy execution, but cheap as hell to make i expect. Why make it flash though? Just make it a static JPEG?!

heavens above the KitKat logo is a JPEG image - surely Nestle / the Agency must have a vector version of this iconic product logo? I believe this is where the Flash file size issue is rooted...
...maybe they are taking a poke at us WebHeads! Take a break from being geeks about the details of "great web design" - look here at this Adverblog - the KitKat project has got us talking, texting, blogging, debating, speculating, ridiculing even!

The reason why I like this project and I posted about is because they make fun of us, digital people, with a witty touch. We spend a lot of time online, browsing, clicking, commenting etc... basically we interact with a lot of websites. KitKat offers us to have a break in our crazy digital journey by visiting a website where nothing happens.
I'm amused by the idea, and even more amused to see all the discussion going around here :-) They definitely managed to create a buzz, at least here on Adverblog.
What I would like to know is how they are promoting the initiative. Just through WOM?

I love this. And to answer Nick's question above about the preloader - if you read what the words are underneath you'll see that they are some of the 'hottest' topics around today that people are consumed with online and in reality. It cycles through them and then drops you on a nice clean surface asking you to take a break. Very intelligent and well done. Finally

Yeah, I can see your point Martina but being the 'digital person' or 'geek' I am, I downloaded the flash swf file from the site and opened it with a swf decompiler to see if we were being had. (a swf decompier is an application which allows you to convert published flash swf files back to workable FLAs)
What did i find? Ladybirds (or ladybugs what ever you wanna call them) flying and scuttling around the site. Not sure what the activation is to make this happen is but someone spent a lot of time animating their little legs and wings etc and they're quite detailed and well done. Oh and when these bugs enter the screen a nice form pops up so you can tell someone about them if you can be arsed enough.
But as i said I don't what you have to do to get these creatures to appear but I'm guessing it has something to do with the time stamp in the top right corner.
So really this is not The First Worldwide Site Where Nothing Happens as something was indeed intended to happen. On the other hand My blogger site which i setup back in 2004 has never been updated. Now there's a Worldwide Site Where Nothing Happens.
