A brief letter: happiness is just one smile away

Dear brands:
do something like this

Then add your logo at the end or just in a corner, tiny size, i don't care, you already got me. Let me embed and send it to my friends and i'll make you rich and famous.

I was just one smile away and i'm that simple.

Yours respectfully,

Daniel

Hmmm! I guess if I was American and a fan of mad men then this would be great. To be honest, not exactly sure what to think of this! Depressing? Thought provoking? Boring?

hey, thanks for the comments

i would add that it's just an online film with no advertising intentions, i just posted it because i find it quite moving without further intellectual explanation, which is quite refreshing after reviewing hundreds of entries (for LIA in my case) trying to sell me that each campaign has been a huge worldwide success when nobody has heard of in 90% of the cases, imho

i think also that this is an honest piece, whatever its intention is, so what i'd want when i reach something online is feeling about things as i felt when i saw this for the first time, it's not MadMenizing the world, just my feelings

so that's all, don't take everything that seriously :)

It's the sort of clip that makes me want to either have a mid-life crisis, bring an uzi into work and end the day on a high or simply wonder why i work in this industry, settle down, buy a house, marry a wife, have kids, watch the kids grow old and see them leave home and see them married, see my wife die, have a liver transplant, go blind, become incontinent and then end up in a home for the elderly being abused by the carers!

It feels like an 90's car ad!

Thanks man, took me away for a moment...

It made me think of things outside of a job.
A job where we try to sell stuff that people don't want and don't need.

Thanks for sharing.

I don't think its a case of taking things too seriously - you posted it - I replied!

It's just pretty average! I come to Adverblog for inspiration and great stuff - not terrible American mid 90's advertising 'crap'! If I wanted that I'd go to YouTube!

sure Paul, you don't have to like it if you don't like it

it's just that what i'm talking about is about the feeling i had when i saw that video -that is beautiful to me, but i understand that not everybody could see it that way :)-

and how i'd like that every time i see something online i could feel that way, i don't care if it's a video, a game, a site, and so on..., for me it was rewarding spending that 4 minutes, and i'm sure that there are many things you find rewarding too (not this video) and i certainly think that you'd like to feel all the time the same as when you see for the first time something you like

and, unluckily, it's pretty uncommon finding something worth your time, so i think it's remarkable when someone do anything that reachs you in a certain way, and, for me, that's what brands should be doing (online)
