In Belgium, a weird website has recently appeared. How Nerdy Are You? is a project launched to state your level of “nerdiness” (my God what an awful word!).
The site features a series of quick and amusing elements: a test, a nerd “generator” and a nerd “kit” to be downloaded and used in the offline world.
In Belgium the online buzz is all around Ray. Do you remember the Coke campaign in Grand Theft Auto style?
Well, it looks like Ray is alive and kicky, and the “Reality Police” is chasing him. Anyone who has information about Ray and can help discovering his real identity is invited to visit www.realray.be to sign-up and get ready to share such tips.
Ray also has a page on Netlog, the most popular social network in the country.
It’s called “I need to go“, one of the craziest digital campaigns I’ve seen this year. It comes from Belgium (where they usually do crazy things online) and it provokes exclamations ranging from “bright!” to “silly!” to “wtf???” to “disgusting” to “cool” to “bleah” to “wow”. Visit the site and then write down in the post comments what your reaction has been…
A Blind Call is one of the smartest social campaigns taking advantage of technology I’ve ever seen. How often do you forget to lock your mobile phone keypad and you unknowingly start making calls to your friends Alice, Anna or Andrew? And how much money have you lost with such unwanted calls? Think about it. Wouldn’t it be better to give such money to charity? And here comes the great idea by Guillaume Duval: first to create a special number that when is dialed donates to costs of the call to a charity organization for blind people, and then to recommend to people in Belgium to save such number as “A blind call” in order to be the first name in their phone book. The site to support the idea is extremely simple, but think about it, the idea is so smart and strong that there isn’t much else to say to convince people. via LSD.
If you have a friend who’s a kind of gigolo, and you feel like playing a nasty trick on him, visit www.shehasyoureyes.com, and take advantage of the service the site offers. Created by Happiness-Brussels for Condooms.com, the site wants to promote the use (and consequently the purchase) of condoms using a provocative approach. Through the site you can send your friend a video message featuring a young lady claiming she had a daughter from you…
In Belgium, Bureau347 has come up with one of the funniest interfaces of the year to animate a product site which, I would say, is boring (almost) by definition… It’s a mini site to promote a Garnier anti dandruff product. As said, there isn’t much to see on the site, but try moving the mouse around the screen and see what happens…
And you can even scratch your head!!! BTW, there is also a competition on the site… shall I say it’s a scratch & win idea? (sorry this is kind of a disgusting joke, I know )
From Belgium, a nice video to raise awareness on global warming and drive votes to the Green Party in the upcoming Federal elections. The agency is K&TKW Ghent.
Close your eyes and imagine a SimCity made of bananas… then click here and play this weird but brilliant advergame just launched by Chiquita in Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria. The challenge, as in SimCity or in Railroad Tycoon (my favourite games ever), is to grow bananas while keeping the employes happy and, of course, while respecting the environment. For the players it’s a nice, lovely designed game which also gives the chance of winning a journey to Costarica, for Chiquita it’s a good (and unusual) exercise of corporate ethics and environmental responsibility. What I like about this game is the learning process about Chiquita plantations it involves, and I also appreciate the fact that registration is not compulsary. Too bad that such an effort is not available to play in English! The agency behind the game it’s These Days, and I’ve found the link through my friend Coolz0r.
In Belgium, Ford allows users to send special Valentine’s SMS with branded love messages for uninspired lovers. Actually Ford gives people the opportunity to send free personalized messages, but if someone is (sadly) out of ideas, some suggestions are provided. For example: “Vandaag ligt de FOCUS op mijn liefde voor jou en als bewijs stuur ik je duizenden kusjes“… which means (if my Dutch is still good enough) something like “Today the fire (FOCUS) of my love is for you and as a sign I send you thousand kisses”…
In Belgium, Ford has launched a viral effort to promote its corporate offer. If your daily life in the office is boring, it means your company doesn’t have a Ford… The campaign site features three videos showing typical (emphasized) office situations, but most of all there is a triggering email where the message subject is “VERY VERY OUT OF OFFICE…” which I expect to generate quite a lot of cliks.
