A smart one, for Smart in Argentina. Using tweets as animation frames, and asking people to scroll down their Twitter page, Smart showed their car fits in every tiny space, even in a Twitter timeline.

I love this simple (smart) idea by Smart: a tiny URLs generator “to park large url’s into tiny spaces.
German agency Jung von Matt has joined forces with French web developer Mathieu ‘P01′ HENRI to produce the smallest advergame ever. It sits in 16*16 pixels or, better, in a favicon. The progject has been conceived to promote a very small car: the Smart fortwo.
As you can see from the video, banners have been placed on automotive sites to invite people to play. The idea is fun and definitely very creative even if I’m not sure how many people visiting those websites have really appreciated it. Would be interesting to know not only the buzz the advergame will be able to create in the blogosphere, but also the numbers in terms of clickthrough (for example) it generate. via The Ispiration Room
From the UK, a lovely piece of work by Agency Republic to promote the Mercedes-Benz Smart ForTwo. The truth about Smart is definitely a great example of interactive storytelling: simple, wit and even very informative.
The experience is divided in five chapters and the journey is accompained by a narrator that explains the car characteristics’ and engages users in humorous interactions. The navigation through the five videos is smooth, engaging and even relaxing I would say… In a way, I felt like I was watching a BBC documentary mixed with a light version of Little Britain.
In Japan Smart has launched an online project where it invites users to design their ideal Smart.
At first sight the website reminds of a project MINI did a few years ago, when they asked consumers to design the cover of their ideal MINI car. However taking a further look you realise there is more to discover and enjoy. Nothing really innovative, I have to say, but definitely something nice to discover on a website by a brand like Smart.
Playing with the concept of a Smart small like a toy the website allows you not only to “pimp” your Smart but also to drive it around the screen and play an advergame with it. Again, nothing really new nor special, but I still believe that, even if you haven’t got a brand new idea, you can still do things well and create a web project that is consistent with your brand and capable of creating an interaction with your product. After all, over 10000 Smart designed by the users aren’t a bad result at all. The agencies behind the project are TYO Interactive Design and Kyucon.
Driving safety and driving tips for drivers seems to be a hot topic in the automotive industry. After BMW Re-learn to drive, now it’s time for The Road to Enlightment by Smart. The approach to the topic it’s quite different, it’s more about psychoanalysis, therapy, and philosophy in a very white environment that reminds me a lot of Friends of Bright, the godfather (or grandfather?) of all video sites.
The Jupiter Drawing Room for Smart (South Africa). I guess many of us would like to break that glass in this period…
