Sony has developed the official video game for the PS2 of Athens’ Olympic Games, and is promoting it with a dedicated web site in 23 versions (about 17 languages). Randommedia did the an excellent job also creating mini-games based on gymnastics, aquatics, athletics.
Raise of Honor is a new Playstation game that Sony will launch with a multi-million dollar marketing campaign. The press release explains that a viral and online push will support print and TV advertising. Viral advertising will consist of “wild postings” in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. Online advertising will commence in February and continue through the end of April. The ad will be run on Web sites such as atomfilms.com, ifilm.com, ign.com, gamespot.com, and maximonline.com.
In today’s Digital Bulletin you can learn more about Sony’s recent campaign aimed to raise awareness of portable devices such as MD and CD Walkman. The campaing with the brand message “You make it a Sony” will run online but also through music festivals and other music channels all across Europe. The viral buzz will be spread by Cake Group, which has a very original Web site I reccomend to visit (even though I’m not sure that I like it . Pay attention to the “hot cakes” part… it can make you sick…
Charlie’s Angels will come back as a video game. Sony Corp.’s movie division on Monday said would release an online video game based on “Charlie’s Angels” to coincide with the new “Angels” movie which it is also releasing. It’s no doubt an interesting example of how the gaming industry might help reinforcing the marketing mix to support a new product launch.
